Swimsuit season arrived with the onset of summer and its warmer weather. After having my second child coupled with my laissez faire approach to exercise, my body is far from bikini ready. My abs seem to have exited my body along with the baby (okay that was 4 years ago, but they still have yet to return) and have been replaced with a belly bag which could seriously hold my phone, wallet and keys, though not at all fashionable. This doesn’t mean summer will come and go without my stepping into a swimsuit to enjoy long languid days at the beach or sipping champagne by the pool. Fortunately the fashion gods have smiled upon those of us who haven’t quite found the time for or aren’t completely satisfied with the results of our fitness routines. Enter the high-waisted bikini. The perfect swimsuit for covering up some of my more relaxed parts. To be completely honest, I wasn’t sure this style was for me and then I my eyes fell upon Johanna Ortiz’s swimwear collection. The Colombian designer’s line of swimwear is like cocktail wear for beach. The drama of the bikini starts on top with over-sized ruffles paired with playful prints drawing attention away from my less desired parts. While the ruched sides on the bottom add slimming coverage for a flattering silhouette. These amazing statement swimsuits are too pricey and too pretty to only be seen pool side. Pair with a feminine skirt or high-waisted pants after you’ve left the pool for an evening of dancing or dinner outside.
Below are a couple of my favorite suits from her 2018 collection.
