With Mother’s Day on Sunday I took some time to reflect what it means to me to be a mom. Never have I known a love as profound as the love I share for my children. There is something about nurturing a life, a mind, a heart and soul that I find deeply rewarding. The unrelenting awesome responsibility to raise respectful, compassionate human beings, carries with it a desire to meet their every need and provide them with the tools necessary to navigate the unpredictable adventures of life. Along this journey, there is so much for all of us to learn. Lessons that cannot be read in a book or measured by an equation. Lessons that require and challenge our patience, our courage and our trust. My wish for my boys is to be curious, inquisitive scholars who share their best self with others. I want them to embrace and accept their flaws and always see failures as an opportunity for growth. In bed each night, we cuddle and reflect on the day, share our favorite moments and set our intention for tomorrow. It is here under the cover of dark and in the warmth of my arms my boys share their fears and asks their most thought-provoking questions. After quieting our minds and exchanging kisses, from their soft sweet voices I hear, “good night, mommy. I love you”. These moments are the greatest gifts I can receive. On Mother’s day, adorned with prideful smiles, my boys present me with the best homemade cards and gifts. My husband spoils me with a romantic poem he’s written which inevitably makes me cry. He knows I love unwrapping a little something and picks out a special gift just for me. Below are some of my favorite gifts I have received and enjoy giving for Mother’s Day.
