Met Gala 2019 – Off to Camp

This year’s met gala theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion.”  Inspired by Susan Sontag’s essay, “Notes on Camp“, where she defines camp as “a certain mode of aestheticism.” Left to the interpretation of those who attended, we saw everything from dresses with glamour to the avant garde in explorations of excess. I can say this year the costumes lived up to my expectations. After all this is an event celebrating the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Save the gowns for the Grammy’s and get ready for some of the gala’s most over the top looks to don the pink carpet.

Lady Gaga to the Max

We expected Lady Gaga to impress after having seen her in a meat dress among other fashions, but this year she truly stole the show. Her camp performance included a four look reveal that we will be speaking of for years to come. Her finalé look left us goggling at Gaga and as usual, wanting more.
